Invoice dispute

« Back to Glossary Index

A dispute is a disagreement between the customer and the supplier regarding an invoice: a price that differs from the quote, a missing quantity, a damaged product, a disputed service, or a duplicate invoice.

Example

A customer is refusing to pay a €7,000 invoice because a pallet arrived damaged. Until the issue is resolved, the invoice is on hold.

Why It’s Important

Disputes are a major cause of late payments. Identifying and resolving them quickly often yields more DSO days than additional reminders.
