Unpaid invoice

« Back to Glossary Index

An unpaid invoice is an invoice that is past due and has not been paid, either in full or in part.

Example

An invoice for €4,800 was due on April 30. As of May 10, no payment has been received: it has been unpaid for 10 days. Late payment penalties and a flat-rate compensation fee of €40 are due.

Why It’s Important

Every unpaid invoice puts a strain on cash flow and, if it goes on for too long, on profits. A prompt and organized follow-up significantly increases the chances of getting paid.
