Outstanding receivables are an important important indicator for a company. It can be used to measure company’s financial health.

As we have seen, trade receivables correspond to the sum of the company’s receivables owed by the company to its customersi.e. amounts that customers have not yet paid.

For calculate outstanding receivablesyou need to add up all the sums owed by customers, minus any payments (and deposits) already made.

Total receivables = invoices due but not paid + invoices issued but not due but not paid + invoices not issued.

Customer receivables = Total receivables – Total payments received.

To take the following example, company “E” has receivables of €50,000 from its customers (C1, C2 and C3). Customers C1 and C2 have paid a deposit of €20,000 prior to the service.
