Electronic Billing 2026: Everything you need to know (and how Aston AI can help)

Aston AI, collection software, helps companies anticipate the e-invoicing reform scheduled for 2026
Contents

From the end of 2026, electronic invoicing will be compulsory for all VAT-registered businesses.
A result of the Finance Act, this reform has three objectives: to combat fraud, simplify exchanges and modernize business management.

In concrete terms, it will no longer be possible to e-mail or print PDF invoices. Only standardized electronic invoices will be valid.
This upheaval in current practices also represents a tremendous opportunity to modernize customer relationship management.

In this context, Aston Cash Collection is already helping many companies to make a successful transition, by combining electronic invoicing and intelligent collection.
Thanks to our SaaS platform, our customers can anticipate the reform while optimizing their efficiency and cash flow.

A historic reform for billing in France

What if this reform were to become the driving force behind your digital transformation?

Rather than seeing it as a constraint, consider it as an opportunity to modernize your processes.
With Aston Cash Collection, compliance becomes a performance lever.

In fact, our solution does more than simply ensure compliance:

  • On the one hand, it automates your reminders;

  • It also integrates e-reporting;

  • Last but not least, it provides a real-time view of your cash receipts.

So, for SMEs and ETIs, now is the time to unify processes, while guaranteeing simplicity, security and efficiency.

The reform timetable

Implementation of the reform is gradual, but the 2026 deadline will mark a decisive turning point for all companies, whatever their size or activity.

From this date :

  • Large and medium-sized companies will be obliged to issue all their invoices in electronic format.

  • SMEs and VSEs, meanwhile, will need to be able to receive all their invoices in electronic format, before they are then subject to the obligation to issue them.

  • All companies, without exception, will have to transmit certain data to the authorities via e-reporting, particularly for international B2B and B2C transactions.

In addition, the Factur-X format will play a central role in this new framework.
This is a human-readable PDF, incorporating a structured XML file that can be automatically processed by information systems.

Although other standards (UBL, CII) are also accepted, Factur-X is set to become the reference format in France for meeting the requirements of this reform.

PDP, PPF, OD: understanding the players

To fully understand the new landscape, we need to distinguish three essential roles:

  • PPF (Portail Public de Facturation): national government platform (Chorus Pro extended).

  • PDP (Plateformes de Dématérialisation Partenaires): state-approved private service providers.

  • OD (Opérateurs de Dématérialisation): unapproved technical connectors.

So Aston Cash Collection is not a PDP, but a multi-connector. In other words, we connect to both PPF and PDP, without friction or constraints.

What the reform imposes on companies

In concrete terms, companies will have to :

  • First, choose a transmission channel (PDP or PPF);

  • Secondly, to be listed in the central directory;

  • Third, manage the entire invoice lifecycle;

  • Fourth, adapt to specific situations (national/international, B2B/B2C);

  • Finally, implement compliant procedures (safety, traceability).

For SMEs, this often means a profound transformation of accounting practices.

Non-compliance risks

To ignore the reform is to expose your company to a number of consequences:

  • Rejected invoices and late payments ;

  • Tax fines for non-compliance ;

  • Isolation from ready partners ;

  • Loss of competitiveness to agile competitors.

In short: a real risk of cash flow stoppage.

Constraint becomes opportunity

Well-anticipated, the reform makes it possible to :

  • Firstly, to automate workflows and cut costs;

  • Accelerate payments;

  • Then follow the invoices in real time;

  • And finally, to manage cash and customer relations via data.

With Aston Cash Collection, this reform becomes a performance lever, not a constraint.

How do you prepare for this?

To help you tackle the reform with peace of mind, here are the key steps:

  1. First, assess your digital maturity: are your tools compatible with Factur-X?

  2. Then map your flows: B2B, B2C, customers, suppliers, France and international.

  3. Then choose a suitable PDP: Aston AI integrates with the market leaders.

  4. Also, train your teams: finance and IT must master the new processes.

  5. Finally, launch a pilot in the 1st half of 2026 to test and adjust.

The Aston AI approach

Our platform offers you :

  • Multi-PDP connectors ;

  • Direct connection to Chorus Pro ;

  • Integrated intelligent covering ;

  • Clear dashboards: DSO, backlogs, work-in-progress ;

  • An interface designed for finance teams (CFO, accountant, credit manager).

In short, your invoices become levers for cash flow and strategic management.

An obligation that becomes an advantage

However, if well prepared, it becomes your competitive advantage.

With Aston Cash Collection, you can :

  • Complying with the law without technical friction;

  • Optimize your customer workstation with AI ;

  • Boost your competitiveness and cash flow.
